Arrow's Divide Region Map version 2

Here is a general idea for the Barren and its surrounding regions. 

Here is some info for those who have read the parts of the story and would like to know more about the world that inspired the Insect Charter.

I know the world and its look is based on a fictionalized version of North America, which is why it looks like the American Southwest, and if you look at a map of the US, some the places are based on actual towns and places along with historical things I really like which is the fur trade/ sugarcane production in the 1800s which is why many of the details in the story sounds more like the late 1700s/ early 1800s than the actual 1900s.

I am a fan of Russian History which is why the northern and some parts of West Coast the of world is well Russian Alaska/ actual Russia, and here is fun fact the name of "Irkutsk" is based on the town Alexander Andreyevich Baranov started work in the Fur trade and tax collection. He would go on to become the chief manger of the Russian American Company in Russian Alaska. Which is why I have the name Baranov/Baranof in the book though I made him more like Cecil Rhodes then the actual Baranov. Nearly all of the barons of commodity in the story are all based on real company mangers during the royal charter companies. In fact Viktor Semyonovich Baranov middle name is a ref to the character Parfyon Semyonovich Rogozhin from the Russian novel "The Idiot".

The character "Robert Bartholomew" is based off of Robert Clive who ran the East India Company and paved the way for British India, and Bartholomew is well based on Mr. Bartholomew from the 1975 film Rollerball. Though Robert's actual role in the book basically Cecil Rhodes following the Jameson Raid.

Mrs. Sandra Lochner last name is based on Lochner Era which were a series of laws designed to protected economic rights, regulation of working hours etc. The laws ended with President Roosevelt.

Mrs. Lochner's boss Mr. Simpson is based off of George Simpson who ran the Hudson Bay Company. Here is a detail I found in nearly all of my research, mangers and folks who ran these companies where like the mega corporations from a distopian sci fi book that actually existed. Nearly all of them had control over the lives of those who live in the company land and some where so keen on micro managing their employees that like Russia in which they often said who could wear what, marry, eat etc. Though by the 1900s companies didn't actually like running countries like Rhodesia cause they were expensive and not a profitable venture.

The Cinturón is basically a collection of Agrarian States and the grain belt such as Chernozem. Bits of its history is Spain and Russia fused together. In the story the Cinturón recently lost all of its oversea possessions following a short war with the United States of Palm, so yeah it is the Spanish American War down to a battleship blowing up in a harbor and Spain losing its fleet in a single morning. Though its economic development plan is Russia in the 1800s.

Alberni is basically the United Kingdom, which in the story is the most dominate world power along with owning the largest maritime fleet and being the hub of world trade and known for its Merchant Banks. The name Silver Cross is mentioned in the story is basically the Union Jack of Alberni. Brittany is France which is why it boarders The Sun States which is my not so subtle German Empire.

The United Province of Independent Mining Claims is basically the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. Baja is a bit of the East Indies and the Torrent is South America. The Northern Barren States is basically parts of South America during the Banana Wars and Africa during the 1870s, the Mexican Revolution in the 1910s and Eastern Europe during World War II which is why you hear the word Partisans rather than rebels.
